The Jewellery box with Khatam work is made of high-quality Khatam and a polyester coating, and is one of the practical handicraft products. This box is used to store jewellery, gift cards, playing cards, coins and the like. The Persian encyclopaedia of Khatam work and Khatam making describes it as: the art of decorating the surface of objects in a kind of mosaic of small triangles. These triangles are made from various types of wood, metal and bone. The smaller and finer the triangles, the higher the quality of the Khatam work. In a Khatam pattern, at least three triangles are used for the smallest geometric unit and a maximum of four hundred for the largest.
